Shabbat Services
Shabbat Services
Kabbalat Shabbat (Greeting Shabbat) — 7:30 pm Fridays
Temple Sholom offers many different Shabbat worship experiences. Each Hebrew School class and our Temple youth group have a chance to lead Shabbat worship. We occasionally have outdoor services, and several featuring our volunteer choir or Hava Nashira band. About once a month, we host family- and adult-friendly Shabbat dinner before services.
Sunset Shabbat Service — 6:00 pm, the last Friday of each month
Participants are invited to play tambourines and maracas and join in dance in this lively and meaningful Shabbat service, which runs approximately one hour. Appetizers are served a half-hour prior to the service. There are no 7:30 pm services on evenings with Sunset Shabbat services.
Shabbat Shacharit — 10:00 am Saturdays
Throughout the year, we offer different opportunities for worship on Saturday morning. Some weeks, a member of our congregation becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah will lead the congregation in prayer. On other Saturdays, we may have a meditative service led by our Cantor, a Torah study led by our Rabbi, a learner's service, or a congregational minyan led by members of the congregation.
Havdalah — Temple Sholom has a wonderful tradition of celebrating Havdalah whenever we have a Saturday evening program.
