How YOU can help refugees
How YOU can help refugees
December 1, 7 - 8:30pm
on Zoom - register below
"We do not help refugees because they are Jewish. We help them because We are Jewish" -Mark Hetfield, president and CEO of HIAS.
Learn about what you can do to help in an interactive discussion, exclusively for Temple Sholom members, with Rabbi Sarah Bassin, senior director of clergy and congregations for HIAS.
HIAS has been in existence for over 140 years, and is the only Jewish refugee resettlement agency in the United States.  Rabbi Bassin will discuss Ukranian refugees as one of her topics, since many Temple Sholom members are concerned and interested in how to help people from Ukraine.
Also present will be Jill Segulin, executive director of Refugee Assistance Partners NJ, ("RAP NJ"), a dynamic organization which is based right here in Scotch Plains, assisting refugees who have resettled right here in Union County.  Several Temple Sholom members, including Cantor Sharlein, are already members of RAP NJ. Jill will describe how you can get involved.
