Madrichim Program

Dear Parents and Temple Sholom teen,

Our Madrichim Program is the perfect opportunity for you to teach Jewish values, build relationships, and make an impact on our Religious School students. The Hebrew term “madrich” literally means “guide” and the root of madrich is the Hebrew word “derech” which means “path” or “journey.” With this in mind, we envision our Madrichim as guiding our students through their Jewish educational journeys, and to use this experience as a part of their own journeys.

Our Madrichim are assigned to a specific grade or area of the synagogue. You may tutor students or lead small groups. You will provide a safe and caring environment for every student, and become a role model who positively affects all of our students’ experiences.

Madrichim will receive community service hours for working. Madrichim are expected to be at work every week, 15 minutes before class begins. We understand that emergencies arise and occasional absences are acceptable, but require that our Madrichim notify Erika Green, and their teacher of all absences.
Tuesday Madrichim Hours- 3:45pm-6pm Sunday Madrichim Hours- 915am-12pm.  Madrichim are also expected to attend meetings held once a month for 30-60 min with Erika Green. In addition, you will be expected to attend the Friday night Shabbat for the grade you are covering.

The First meeting of the year will be held on Tuesday September 3rd 5:45-7pm where you will join the entire faculty for dinner,  get your assignments, contracts, and calendar, as well as reviewing this trimester with the Rabbi and teachers. Please confirm with AMY (rs@sholomnj.org) in the temple office that you will be attending.

The  second meeting will be on Sunday September 8th at  9am.
Please fill out the below information and return (email or print and drop off)  to Jennifer (educator@sholomnj.org)  by Friday, Aug 30th.
