Family track, 2018-19 - info and dates

Are you curious about Family Track?  Wondering if Family Track is right for your family?

Family Track is a unique program designed right here in our temple.  Each trimester, you have the option of sending your child(ren) to the Sunday morning program OR being part of Family Track.

Family Track is a whole family learning experience.  There are 3 components to Family Track.  Once enrolled for a trimester, your family will select 3 services to attend (Friday night or holiday services).  You will also attend 3 planned family-style learning Havdalah potluck programs with all the participants in Family track for the trimester.  Your family will also select 3 hours of at-home activities from a variety of choices we will supply.  These activities can be done alone or with other families (including those not registered for Temple Sholom Family Track!).  All families, both Sunday program and Family Track, attend the once per trimester Congregational Education Days.

This year, our trimesters are:

Trimester 1: Genesis (Havdalah programs: Sep 22, Oct 20, Dec 1, 4-7pm)

Trimester 2:  Biblical History (Havdalah programs: Dec 15, Jan 12, Feb 9, 4-7pm)

Trimester 3:  Concepts of God (Havdalah programs: Mar 16, Apr 6, May 11, 4-7pm)

If you'd like to register to be a part of Family Track this year, please check your calendar to be sure the Havdalah program dates work for your schedule, then email the religious school with the trimester of your choice and we will confirm your registration.

Here's what some of our families who've participated in Family Track have to say about their experiences:

"We really enjoy Family Track and have completed several trimesters.  It's a great way to socialize with other families in a relaxed and friendly setting.  It's also a nice way to learn and be creative together as a family.  In addition, the adult sessions with the Rabbi are very interesting and educational, while still feeling casual and acessible.  We look forward to future trimesters!"

- Allison Blaschak

"Having the option of participating in the Family Track program at Temple Sholom is a gift.  Not only does it provide us an opportunity for quality time with our immediate family, but it gives us a platform to interact with other families, as well as our Rabbi, Cantor, and the school's educators.  Wrap all this around a great potluck dinnner, singing, dancing, and you're bound to leave with a smile and an education!"

- Matt Klein

"Family Track has been a good opportunity for us to get to know other families as we worked together on projects and in discussions.  We also enjoy celebrating Havdalah as a family, which was a new experience for us."

- Emily Serna

"Family Track is a fun, interactive way to learn.  We met and got to know so many families this way.  The Havdalah service is short, but beautiful.  And the format allowed our son to play soccer on Sunday mornings without missing out on his Jewish education."
