3rd-grader raises money for California wildfire relief

A Temple Sholom "little guy" was a big mensch recently, raising money (with the help of members) for California wildfire relief.

Ari White, a third-grader in the Religious School, camped out at the temple's entrance collecting donations that totaled over $43. He then added some of his own money and ended up sending $75.88 to Operation USA, a Los Angeles-based disaster relief agency.

Ari composed this thank-you note to Temple Sholom and those who donated to the cause.

Dear Temple Sholom,

My name is Ari White.  I raised money for the California wildfires. As some of you may know, I was the little guy at the  table, right in front of the entrance.

If you donated, you helped me. If you didn't, it is ok because you are still part of our Temple community. In total, I raised $43. 88 and adding my loot, that makes $75.88!!! The money will go to Operation USA.

I made around $1.00 per minute which was around 45 minutes in total. I didn't just help, we all helped. Because if one person is raised up to help a community, everyone is.

Thank you for all of your help. I really appreciate it. I really do.

Love,

Ari White

P.S. Also thank you to Jennifer, Cantor and Rabbi!
